Fixing Napster
So, Napster kicked you off because Metallica put your name on the list? Try this to fix napster and get yourself unbanned and back in action.
This fix is not for the newbie. It requires editing your windows registery file to fix it. Easy enough to do, but you should be extremely careful whenever you edit the registry.
- First, uninstall Napster using the control panel 'uninstall' applet.
- If Napster can't uninstall itself, you will need to remove the following keys from your registry:
Goto start, run, and type in regedit. Then surf down the list to find these keys and delete them.

- Now, remove every instance of the following code from your registry:

- Create a new text file and name it napster.inf
- Paste this into the file you just created and save:

- Move the napster.inf file into your Windows root directory. Most likely located at: (C:\WINDOWS)
- Re-Install Napster but don't launch after installation.
- In explorer, just right-click on napster.inf, and select "install."
- Do NOT use the same user name to fix it.
